Perlane Changes Its Name to Restylane Lyft

Restylane LyftPerlane recently changed its name to Restylane Lyft and reintroduced itself as a filler for cheek augmentation and the correction of age-related, midface contour deficiencies.

With this name change, the Restylane family of products is more complete. Now there is Restylane, Restylane Silk, and Restylane Lyft. All of these products are made from hyaluronic acid. The difference between them is the size of the particles. Restlylane lift has the largest particle size, and Restyane Silk the smallest.

Because of its large particle size, Restlyane Lyft is particularly well suited for cheek augmentation. As part of the natural aging process, cheeks become more hollow and descend. This results in flattening of the cheeks, prominence of the nasolabial folds, and contributes to the appearance of jowls. Bulkier fillers, such as Restylane Lyft, can fill and elevate cheeks back into a more youthful position.

Other products in this category include Voluma, Sculptra, and Radiesse. Voluma is also made from hyaluronic acid but manufactured in a different way. Radiesse is made from a substance called hydroxylapatite. The manufacturing differences between these products give them unique characteristics when injected into tissues.

Studies leading to the approval of Restylane Lyft for cheek augmentation, found that 73% of patients treated with Restylane Lyft felt there was improvement in the appearance of their midface area even after one year.

Restylane Lyft is administered via injection. Discomfort is minimal but can be even further reduced prior to treatment by the use of a topical numbing cream. This is typically applied 15 – 30 minutes prior to treatment. Treatment takes 20 – 40 minutes depending on how much product and how many areas are to be treated. Restylane Lyft is also approved for filling the nasolabial folds and can be used to fill the temples, tack the jawline back, and soften marionette lines as well.

There is essentially no downtime after treatment. Bruising can occur; however, with proper technique, more serious complications including infection are exceedingly rare. Immediately after treatment, there is swelling; so that, the treated area looks larger than it ultimately will. It usually takes 2 – 3 days for most of the swelling to subside and can take up to several weeks for all of it to dissipate.

Restylane Lyft is part of Galderma’s Aspire rewards program, so you get points worth future rebates on any of Galderma’s products which include Restylane and Dysport. It is very similar to the Brilliant Distinctions program promoted by Allergan, the makers of Botox, Juvederm, and Voluma.
